Pack Check-In is a small community app for dog owners to check in at local dog parks, see who else is around, and connect with other owners. This page explains what information we collect and how it's used.

1. Information we collect

  • Account information: your name, email address, and password (stored securely by our authentication provider, never in plain text).
  • Dog profile information:your dog's name, breed, birthdate, size, temperament tags, and any photos you upload.
  • Activity information:which park you check into and when, your status (here / leaving soon / going), messages and photos you post in park chat, direct messages you send other owners, and any best-friend, "not a good match," or private note preferences you set for other dogs.
  • Push notifications:if you turn these on, your browser gives us a subscription identifier so we can send you alerts. We don't collect precise or continuous location - only the check-ins you choose to create.
  • Reports: if you report another user, we store who you reported, which dog (if any), and the reason you gave. This is visible only to admins reviewing the report, never to the person you reported.

2. How we use it

We use this information to run the core features of the app - showing who's at a park, letting you message other owners, and sending notifications you've opted into - and to keep the community safe, including reviewing reports and moderating or suspending accounts that break the rules. We do not sell your information or use it for advertising.

3. What other users can see

Any signed-in user can see your dog's profile and your check-in activity at a park - that's the point of the app. Direct messages are visible only to the two people in that conversation (admins can view messages only when investigating a report). Private notes you write about another dog are visible only to you.

4. Third-party services

We rely on a small number of service providers to run the app: Supabase (authentication, database, and file storage) and Vercel (hosting). Your browser's own push notification service is used if you opt in to alerts.

5. Data retention and deletion

We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from your profile page - this removes your dogs, photos, messages, and other personal data, and disables your ability to log in. A minimal record may remain with our authentication provider, but it's no longer usable to access your account or any of your data.

6. Children's privacy

Pack Check-In is not intended for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from them.

7. Security

We use reputable, industry-standard providers and reasonable safeguards to protect your information, but no online service can guarantee complete security.

8. Changes to this policy

If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date at the top of this page.
